Oh Danny Boy
see relatedThe rest of our adventure in London
The details on this regency gown are just amazing! I don't know if I would have the patience! :)
My sister and I both want to the do colonial reenacting sometime! We love doing civil war, but I just love the colonial styles as well and the history is also a high light of our country's freedom.
I love the fabric and the sleeves are great! The V&A just had so many great clothes! It was just amazing!
Oh and get a load of the shoes!!! I am drooling still!
Get a load of that heel! I always loved the buttons on victorian boots!
This is a civil war period dance slipper. Of course these shoes are english, but during the war the americans got many of their fashion ideas from the english. Beth and I want to reproduce the roset on this slipper on future dance slippers for maybe a ball in our distant future!
I am thinking this was my favorite dress to see out of all the dresses I saw in all the museums on the whole trip! I love the sleeves and the bodice detail!! I have always wanted a dress with big sleeves like this! call me crazy! Beth thinks so!
I just adore it! Oh my!
I believe this gown was Queen Victorias, I am thinking, correct me if I am wrong ladies. I only have a small ammount of pics from this museum as my camera died. I plan to get pictures from Lindsey keen when she has finished doing all the pictures.
The front of the dress.
A 1950's dress! Its so pretty!
I don't have a more detailed picture of this one or a full length as my camera died, but once I get pictures from the other ladies on the trip I will be sure to post them. There were many more clothes I got pictures of with my friend Ana's camera, and Lindsey Keen will be giving CD's to all of us I think. So don't worry. I am sorry its a tease for now.
Kensington Palace
we had lunch in the orangery also here at Kensington the home of the young Victoria.
We also had a suprise guest. It was from a wardrobe unlocked. She was wonderful and let Cassie one of the ladies in our group try on her gown! It had taken her weeks and months to make! WOW!
Bethany, myself, Ashley and her Mom, we all had a great time and it was so great to meet a fellow blogger for the first time! So good to meet you Ashley!
We got to go back to the Tower of London on thursday our last day in London. We also went to Suzi's for tea and got to see her private costume collection, but I can't post pics. We also got to see some of the antique clothing collection at the London museum. But I also can't post pics of that either unfortunately!
Going into the walled city to see the Tower and the crowned jewels.
We saw a guard in the uniform! We did not see any at Buckingham! So Sarah and I practically screamed when we finally saw one! I think he was laughing under his breath at us american girls! lol
The tower
We were not aloud of course take pictures of the crown jewels! But here is a little bit of our adventure.
All of us on tuesday I believe it was dresses in regency attire and other eras and we went on the tube and paraded around England lol and people stared and said how lovely we looked. We were even stopped by security on our way out of the tube because apparently they think a bunch of ladies dressed this way could be terrorists! lol Whatever it was fun!
Abby I love her bonnet! and Bethany who made her dress
Ana
Amy and Sarah
Me I was ready, I had my gloves and I even made a reticule and I even had a shawl and Courtney did all of our hair! I was great! Oh to dress like that daily! it would be wonderful! This is the ice blue dress bethany made by hand for me.
Here we go back into the city after getting off the tube!
Ana and I as we well I have not told you yet where we were going, that day we went to the fan museum and had tea there as well! It was great!
Bethany and Abby and Amy and Amanda Beth! Love her blog!
A garden that was next to the museum.
Of course only one of the many fans in the museum!
Bethany, Sarah, and I outside the museum
The american civil war time period fans, they are from the 1860's but are english, they are very big, that was the periods distinction in fans. I bought a fan from the museums gift shop, but its too small, but I use it at reenactments anyway. I think its not so bi of a deal compared to not having period clothing and hair styles etc. Its small compared to the rest of my outfit. I am farby in my fan taste! lol
I think these are some of the civil war fans. Not sure though. Can't remember.
We had tea in their lovely tea room!
My fan I got in the gift shop! lol
Me myself and I
My gown is also voile!
Bethany, don't you love the tucks at the bottom of her gown. Its voile by the way!
Our whole group outside! Aren't we lovely!
On our way back! I love this picture of them walking. So lovely!
I love Katrina on the lefts bonnet she made and her whole outfit!
All of us on the escalater in the tube! We were a spectical! lol
In Christ,
Rebecca
I will be posting the pictures from Bath tomorrow or Monday! I also am going to post about my thrifting lately and my music later this week as well. I thought I would catch up on old news like England. Enjoy and God bless!

Ohhh!!! *squeezes eyes shut* I am TRYING not to be envious!! (Quotes in head: "Love.... does not envy; Love... does not envy..."

Everything looks so fun and neat!! The dresses are just gorgeous! I can't wait for the pictures of Bath! That must have been the highlight of the trip... My dream is to visit Bath and Lacock!
P.S. I won't call you crazy for wanting a dress with big sleeves; I like them too!
hey Melanie! thanks for trying not to be envious! *grins* I was envious when I found out that my sister was going and I wanted to go before I found out I was going with her. I got on the waiting list and I thought I would not get to go as the waiting list was long and then Jennie called us and told me I was in because Beth was my sister and they try to keep families like mom and daughtars and sisters togeather! I was so excited! God really blessed Bethany and I with not only fun things like seeing poofy sleeves on dresses and dressing up, but also I was able to make some kindred spirits that have really helped me grow in my faith. It really encouraged me!
I hope I can meet you sometime, you are always so encouraging Melanie! I love both your blogs! i will pray for you too! When prayer is happening we are all stronger! Yes yesterday was a day where actually I was in the Word, but I just fell apart. I let myself fall apart and I was thinking as what would I do if I was Christ. I was thinking what was I thought best but was not at all! thank you for the encouragement.
Oh sorry this a reply to your other comment too! :)
Yes I will post bath photos sometime this coming week.
In Him

AH! The memories! Today my mom and I missed being in London with you all!
Would you like me to email you some of my pictures, Rebecca? Like of some of the lovely dresses in the V&A?
Sure I can email you all these pictures I posted of the dresses and I also have more details of each of the dresses I just did not post. I only have these dresses though, as I said my camera died! ): I was so sad. But Ana and Lindsey will be sending me pictures sometime soon.
Yes I miss being in London too! So many things now I wish I had gone and seen. Guess what Molly told me?!! We missed the piano that was Chopin's in the harrod's department store!!!! I was so mad!!!!!!! As he is my favorite composer of all time!!!!! AHHHH!
Oh well. I will just have to go again right and take you and Melanie with me!!!
Rebecca
oh WOW! You girls made those dresses you are wearing? Could you tell me how you got the patterns? If I asked you to make on for me, could you? (How much would you charge?)
Your trip looked like so much fun!
blackvelvet yes my sister made both of our dresses! She used Jennie Chancey's pattern from Sense and Sensibility patterns. http://www.sensibility.com/mainpage.htm that is her website. She is the one we went on the trip on and who coordinated this trip. She is amazing. Yes her pattern is easy and looks great.
I will ask my sister about what she would charge she has sold a regency dress to a friend before. So I will ask.
May I ask what you name is again? I am sorry I am drawing a blank or do you not have it on your blog?
In Christ and blessings,
Rebecca
Oh Blackvelvet here is my sister's blog.
http://diaryofaseamstress.blogspot.com/ You can contact her on there, she is very interested in making clothing for others. So chat with her and I think you could probably get her email address to talk her making you a dress. Also we are wearing period stays she made as well. The dresses just look better that way. So you can talk to her about that too.
In Christ and blessings,
Rebecca
